Students rivals from four universities rioted in Dhaka

On 20 October 2008 groups of rival students from four universities rioted in Dhaka, injuring a number of bystanders. At least 60 people were injured when students from Dhaka College clashed with students from Dhaka City College. Two other separate incidents sparked riots at Jagannath University and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. Several faculty members were injured in the riots. At Dhaka College, rioters had to be dispersed by police officers firing tear gas rounds. No fatalities were reported during these incidents.
