Greater security checks around the parliamentary complex in Dhaka
11 Mar 2009
Bangladeshi government will likely heighten security around the parliamentary complex in Dhaka for fear of a terrorist attack. Anyone who enters the area in and around the complex will be subject to searches with vehicle scanners and metal detectors. Government leaders decided to implement the new measures after the 25 February mutiny of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) soldiers. Intelligence reports also indicated that a terrorist attack in the country is possible, although the threat was not specific. Officials also plan to construct a taller boundary fence and close off some of the entrances to the complex.
