Truck drivers in Australia are plan a two-week strike
25 Jul 2008
Truck drivers in Australia are planning to launch a two-week strike over high fuel prices at midnight local time on 27 July 2008, which could potentially affect the delivery of goods, including food and fuel. The Australian Long Distance Owners' and Drivers' Association, which is organizing the strike, expects approximately 80-90 percent of drivers to join the work stoppage. The Australian Trucking Association is not supporting the strike, and some employers have threatened to fire drivers who participate. Drivers have threatened to stage road blockades if the strike is not successful.
