LOW-COST AIRLINE LAUNCHES NEW ROUTE IN AUSTRALIA
02 Jul 2009
On 2 July 2009 low cost carrier Tiger Airways began flights on the busy route between Sydney and Melbourne. The airline will initially operated four daily flights on this route, with plans to increase capacity in the near future. Tiger Airways is the first new air carrier to serve the route as Virgin Blue and Qantas have dominated the domestic market since 2001. The airline will reportedly use six different 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft to service the route between Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport (YSSY/SYD) and Melbourne International Airport (YMML/MEL).
