Flight delays at Perth Airport following electrical fault

Flight delays were reported at Perth International Airport (YPPH/PER) following an incident that resulted in approximately 2,000 people being evacuated from the facility on 15 January 2009. The evacuation was called after smoke began to fill the customs hall at approximately 0700 local time (2200 UTC on 14 January). Some arriving aircraft were forced to remain on the tarmac for several hours, but the airport resumed normal operations at 1130 local time (0230 UTC) after investigators found the probable source of the smoke to be an electrical fault.
