Emirates flight returns to Perth due to burning smell

On 16 October 2008 an Emirates flight (EK425) that was en route to Dubai returned to Perth Airport (YPPH/PER) approximately 90 minutes after takeoff after a burning smell was detected on the aircraft. No smoke was observed on the Airbus A340 aircraft and it landed without incident; its 120 passengers were rescheduled on a later flight. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
