Nationwide 1 day fuel station strike

The Independent Association of Service Stations (AESI) launched a one-day strike at gas stations nationwide at 0000 local time on 5 December 2008. The Federation of Service Station Employees, the industry's main labour union, is supporting the strike. The staff action, which aims to protest the industry's supply issues and declining profitability, has caused significant disruptions in the availability of gasoline and diesel fuel. Most fuel stations in Buenos Aires are closed. Esso has closed all of its stations. Petrobras stations will remain open. Long lines have been reported at those fuel stations that have remained open. Fuel stations will continue to supply emergency vehicles.
